The NPF Cultural Leadership Institute is a training and formation program for developing cultural leaders who shall be at the forefront of Philippine cultural heritage protection, promotion, and development. Courses will be facilitated in partnership with scholars and practitioners in the concerned subject areas. The NPF welcomes partnerships with institutions of higher education, State Universities and Colleges. Among the goals of the Cultural Leadership Institute is to build the capacities of employees of NPF and other stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries to prepare them for leadership roles in cultural heritage protection and sustainable tourism development. An ongoing project is the implementation of the MakaNayon Leadership Course.
MakaNayon Leadership Course is an 8-week formation training/seminar which explores the meaning and practice of a cultural leader in the Philippines. The course has four modules, which sum up the four core values of being MakaNayon: MakaTao, MakaKalikasan, MakaBayan, and MakaDiwa. Each module will be covered for one to two weeks. From a rights-based to development approach, this course seeks to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of duty-bearers to fulfill their mandate in empowering communities through the value and practical applications of shared heritage.
The name of the course is also the vision of the project, which is to create cultural workers that think, act, and live in favor of their community and country. Through the lessons and activities, the aim is to build a community of cultural workers that will have the ability to act in favor of the nayon.
