The Nayong Pilipino Foundation, in partnership with HABI The Philippine Textile Council, brings you a summit series on weaving as intangible cultural heritage.
Join us, with our resource speakers as panelists and guests as reactors in each session, as we discuss weaving with another lens.
Objectives of the Summit:
To introduce the concept of textiles and weaving as the nation’s intangible cultural heritage.
To discuss ways of protecting weaving as intangible cultural heritage in the clothing and textile industries while protecting weavers and finished products as cultural heritage.
To discuss the ways of using traditional textiles and weaving traditions in the Philippine fashion industry.
To present government efforts in the promotion and conservation of traditional weaving practices and textiles.
Encourage commercial business enterprises to begin evaluating their practices in relation to the protection of Intangible cultural heritage.
The summit will be from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm on the following dates:
19 October 2020, Day 1: Weaving as Intangible Cultural Heritage
26 October 2020, Day 2: Protecting the Weavers as the Bearer of ICH
2 November 2020, Day 3: Incorporating Woven Fabrics in Clothing and Accessories
9 November 2020, Day 4: Production and Retail Chain in the New Normal
Rooms will open 15 minutes before each session.
